Episode 70 | How to Take Your Own Prescription

Episode 70 | How to Take Your Own Prescription

Whether you realize it or not, we give ourselves prescriptions for better health and well-being, perhaps even more mojo, all the time. Be it a new exercise routine, or an eating habit, a financial budget, a morning routine, or even…a yoga challenge, we can always come up with an idea and a plan for some form of “medicine” that we believe will better ourselves. Just think about it: how many prescriptions for more mojo have you come up with for yourself this year?

Take Your Own Pill

Whether you realize it or not, we give ourselves prescriptions for better health and well-being, perhaps even more mojo, all the time. Be it a new exercise routine, or an eating habit, a financial budget, a morning routine, or even…a yoga challenge, we can always come up with an idea and a plan for some form of “medicine” that we believe will better ourselves. Just think about it: how many prescriptions for more mojo have you come up with for yourself this year? I’ll bet it’s more than a few. Personally, I can count over 70 just looking at the wall next to my desk where I keep my Yearly Vision and Monthly Goals worksheets thumb-tacked up for daily viewing. Yes, I’m one of THOSE doctors. Don’t hate. How many of my own pills have I swallowed? About half. That leaves another half of my sad little pills sitting around on the table, wondering if they’ll expire before fulfilling their sacred purpose. What about you? How many of your own prescriptions have you managed to take this year?

Eat to Live

Eat to Live

This week we’re bringing you a guest post from a friend of ours, Jill Corleone. Educated at New York University, she is a Registered Dietician/Nutritionist with over a decade of experience publishing thousands of pieces on outlets like the Huffington Postlivestrong.com, and ehow.com about maintaining a balanced, healthy approach to our eating habits.

Damned If You Do, Damned If You Don't

Damned If You Do, Damned If You Don't

Eleanor Roosevelt said that we’re damned if we do and damned if we don’t, so I say we might as well do! You see, this absolutely applies to our efforts to create the MOJO Life: the happy, healthy lifestyle of our dreams. It’s damn hard to do the little things every single day that it takes to build the ideal lifestyles we hold in our hearts: it takes a lot of effort and will to sustain forward progress. Oftentimes, our brains tell us it might be easier to just wallow in our old crappy habits; after all, they’ve become so fitted to our form over time. Yet, we all know by now that those old habits always leave us feeling disappointed, or worse. So, when confronted with the choice to do or don’t do, yes, in a sense we are damned either way we go. Fortunately, we also know in our heart of hearts that when we do manage to do even a little bit of our happiness practices, we’re always left feeling, well, happier. The damnation of doing, therefore, has a leg up because it leads to salvation! Glory hallelujah!

Fun With Yoga Challenge!

Fun With Yoga Challenge!

Why fun with yoga? Well, we know firsthand how easy it can be to find ourselves taking our yoga (and ourselves) so seriously that the joy gets drained right out of our efforts. "Why is joy so important?" you ask in a curmudgeonly tone. Well, grumpy pants, because we'll never stick with anything that doesn't bring us joy. And if we want to have healthy habits, like yoga, for the rest of our long and happy lives, we have to be sure we're always seeking the fun in them.
