Just a Speck in Space (Re-Rebroadcast)

I hope you'll enjoy this re-rebroadcast of one of my all-time favorite blogs and episodes of The MOJO Show this week. Apparently it's one of your favorites, too, as the 2nd most downloaded MOJO Show episode! Whenever I catch myself getting daunted by the seeming enormity of it all (and that can be more frequently than I would hope), I remind myself of the nuggets of wisdom in this episode. I hope there's some insight here for you, too, that helps with whatever looming things you've got going on in your week.

#FreeVideoFriday - Meditation to Relieve Anxiety

#FreeVideoFriday - Meditation to Relieve Anxiety

Sadly, anxiety abounds these days in the US, and it's safe to say in much of the rest of the world. For many it's acutely heightened by political tensions and uncertainty in the moment. For others of us, it's just a daily struggle. Fortunately for all of us, we do have the refuge of meditation and yoga to help us take care of the one thing over which we do have a chance at exercising some control in this world: our state of mind.

Just a Speck in Space (Rebroadcast)

I hope you'll enjoy this rebroadcast of one of my favorite blogs and episodes of The MOJO Show this week. Team MOJO is busily preparing to be part of Hawaii's biggest entrepreneurial and tech startup conference at East Meets West. We're kicking off the conference with a yoga class on the beach and wrapping it up with an on-stage presentation of MOJO Yoga to all the people of startup land. Whenever I catch myself getting daunted by the seeming enormity of it all (and that's quite frequently), I remind myself of the nuggets of wisdom in this episode. I hope there's some insight here for you, too, that helps with whatever looming things you've got going on in your week.

Slowing Down

Slowing Down

I always feel very blessed to have the luxury of working the schedule I do - for those of you that don't know, I work 3 days a week. When I made the decision to work such a limited schedule it included making many changes. Some were financial, some were personal.  But the bottom line was, it was best for me. For more reasons than going on a money budget, it was also a brain budget.

#FreeVideoFriday - Gratitude (Happiness Practice #1)

#FreeVideoFriday - Gratitude (Happiness Practice #1)

Earlier this week I challenged you all to try out my top 5 happiness practices. So, how's it going?

Well, if you're having a hard time implementing them, or don't really know where to start, this week's #FreeVideoFriday is here to help. Day 1 of The Find Your MOJO Challenge details some of my favorite ways to practice gratitude, which just so happens to be the #1 happiness practice in our challenge for this week.

Yogafy Your Life: Daily Dose of Happiness

Yogafy Your Life: Daily Dose of Happiness

Happiness: it's something for which we spend a lot of time and energy striving and searching. In our culture, happiness is something to be pursued. Yet, science has long demonstrated that happiness tends to be more of a propensity than a result. So, if happiness does indeed come from within, can we do anything to increase our propensity for it? Well, I believe yoga says absolutely yes!

Meditation Station: Vision

Meditation Station: Vision

Ever feel like you’re lost in the minutiae of day-to-day living? Are you overrun with to-do’s but have no idea where all those do’s are taking you? Me too. That’s why I started a visioning practice: to clarify my vision for my life and my big Why, infusing my to-do’s with inspiration and purpose. I want to share this practice with you this week, along with a Visioning Meditation below, to perhaps help spark some motivation for you in these dog days of summer.

Sutra Sagacity I.1

Sutra Sagacity I.1

Well, folks, it's that time again. "What time is it?" you ask. Time for the next installment of the Sutra Sagacity series, that's what! And it just so happens to be our first look at an actual sutra. Wild, I know.

Well, folks, it's that time again. "What time is it?" you ask. Time for the next installment of the Sutra Sagacity series, that's what! And it just so happens to be our first look at an actual sutra. Wild, I know.

Now, before we get started on this first sutra, I want to introduce to you someone who’s just getting started with MOJO Yoga this week! Meet Shannon Algeo, our newest MOJO Teacher! Shannon is a spiritual life coach, international yoga instructor, and host on the iTunes ‘New&Noteworthy' SoulFeed Podcast.

Meditation Station: Focus

Meditation Station: Focus

It can really be damn hard to stay focused, especially when we have a big vision with lots of accompanying goals and things to do every single day. No matter what our direction in life, we can easily become so overwhelmed with things that we have to do and want to do, that we might even forget momentarily what it’s like to be in a state of focus. This sort of multitasking existence leads us to touching upon many things, yes, but never truly giving any one thing our full attention.

Sutra Sagacity: A Prologue

Sutra Sagacity: A Prologue

Some of you might remember the Sutra Sagacity series from back in the days of Infinity Crossing. Well, partly because some of you asked for it, and partly because I feel the philosophy and psychology of yoga is vastly undervalued against the fun and immediacy of the physical practice, we are happily resurrecting, revamping, and updating this series here for you, the MOJO Mob. You see, the lessons we learn from our yoga practice can transform how and why we live our lives the way we do, driving us to live with more mojo off the mat and even design our own MOJO Life. So, whether this in-depth look at the wisdom of yoga is new to you or a review, I know there are fresh nuggets of knowledge for us all to glean here.

The Dark Side Within

The Dark Side Within

I woke up this morning and just did not want to do yoga. At all. I felt crabby and tired, and the last thing I wanted to do was get up and do some stupid yoga. That's right, I said "stupid yoga." Sometimes, it just starts to feel like, "yoga this, yoga that, yoga, yoga, stinkin' yoga." So, what did I do with myself? I got up and did some yoga. But, maybe not in the way you think…

Focus. Squirrel!

Focus. Squirrel!

Oh yeah, I am so focused right now. Totally focused. What was that? Oh, hold on. Someone just came into the room. I have to check who it is. Oh, she always comes in late. Okay. I can focus now. Close my eyes. Breathe in. Breathe out. Gotta remember to pay that bill later. My nose itches. Oh, focus. Yes, I'm focused. What is that damn dog doing now? Ugh, he drives me crazy. Did my phone just buzz? I thought I turned that thing off. Forget it. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. My foot's going to sleep... Squirrel!

A Better Butt Through Yoga

A Better Butt Through Yoga

That's right, yoga gave me a better butt. I say this not merely in reference to my much stronger physique from yoga, though that is a lovely perk. Rather, I'm referring to the trade I made with yoga that turned out to be one of the best deals of my life. I offered up the butts of my smoking habit to yoga and not only did it happily accept my offering, but also gave me, among many other wonderful things, that better butt in return. I've spoken briefly of my success with smoking cessation through yoga, but I feel compelled to write about it in more detail at the moment. Perhaps I can share something that will be useful to my fellow smoking cessation warriors out there.

MOJO's Summer Reading List

Did anyone else besides me love summer reading lists on breaks from school? Ok, maybe I didn’t always like every item on the lists, but I think I more so loved the fact that I had all this free time when school was not in session to read at a leisurely pace the items on my list, and then some. There’s just nothing like lazing around on a hot afternoon with an icy beverage and a good book. Am I right? Thus it is in this spirit that I revive the old summer reading list template and infuse it with some MOJO. I’ll be dousing these books with a healthy dose of sand, sun, dirt, snacks, and lemonades over the course of my summer. I hope you’ll join me in this good old fashioned lazy day literacy. If you have your own summer reading list, share it with us in the comments below. The minds that MOJO together, grow together!
