Our first blog post, in all its glory.
On this day of not-so-saintly celebration for many, I’d like to pay the highest of saintly homages to our very own Saint Patty. No, it’s not the one you think.
You see, our very own Saint Patty penned our very first blog post, the one you see up there, birthing Infinity Crossing almost 5 years ago. While admittedly none of us knew exactly what it was we were going to do as Infinity Crossing, she listened in on our fervent evening meetings on our lanai (that’s a porch in the local parlance) in Paia as we brainstormed our dreams into being. I was going to start a blog, but was too terrified to write the first post (a funny thought now, some 225+ posts later). Saint Patty graciously gave me a kick start with one of her famous Odes, written especially for Infinity Crossing.
Much of it is really quite appropriate still. Granted, we’ve yet to have a “massager” on board, but the rest is spot on… “Unbounded by space or by time,” indeed! She nailed our visions and our mission at the time, and even now. For that I am still grateful to this day.
Saint Patrick’s Day was St. Patty’s birthday, and is still a day to celebrate her life and the contributions she made to life in general, including a daughter who is to this day one of our most VIP of team members and friends. Saint Patty was not perfect, not by a long shot. But, like all of us, she did the best she knew how to do. As I write this, I see out of the corner of my eye a quote I had posted on our original blog that I only just now realize is perfect for paying homage to Saint Patty:
“We’re the bridge across forever, arching above the sea, adventuring for our pleasure, living mysteries for the fun of it, choosing disasters triumphs challenges impossible odds, testing ourselves over and again, learning love and love and LOVE!” (Richard Bach, Bridge Across Forever)
And indeed it is a perfect homage to Infinity Crossing, a bridge to our forever. As we approach our 5 Year Anniversary (holy $h!t), we’re itching to shed our old skin and enter a new era - one of united vision, purpose, and achievement. Places where we’ve divided our efforts will join to become one force. And places where divisions have been stubborn will be left behind. Growth and shift happens, it must. I was terrified back then to write a simple blog post, to put myself and my dreams out on the internet for absolutely no one to see. Well, my friends and I have come a very long way since then. We’ve worked hard to be better than we were, and are working hard to improve still, for improvement is always available to those who seek it. We have a clearer vision, we believe in ourselves and the good work we have to offer the world around us, and I think after 5 years we’ve really got some mojo working. We’re finally ready to take this thing to the next level.
What does this mean? You’ll see. Just stay tuned. And say a little prayer for Saint Patty and all those who need to be kneaded and nourished…mind, body, and soul.
